Saudi Arabia of Wind Turbine Power
Falmouth Massachusetts has the worst placed wind turbines in the United States. The town was conned.
Today Falmouth Wind I no longer operates. The legal system has shut down the turbine and probably will never spin again. The second commercial megawatt wind turbine called Falmouth Wind II only operates 12 hours a day. The court system has said the turbines cause harm to the neighbors.
The Town of Falmouth failed to file Special Permit 240-166 to install the turbines. The Special Permit process would have required additional abutter notification and additional noise tests prior to installation.
Town officials decided the town could afford to take a huge risk and gambled they could hide noise warning letters, memos, studies and basically any negative information about the giant commercial megawatt wind turbines.
The town threw the dice and lost. It had been known since 1987 about two distinct types of noise from wind turbines. A NASA investigation by Dr. Neil Kelly and his colleagues warned of infra sound and low frequency noise ( LFN ). This was not a surprise to Mattapoisett residents who had been warned about the two types of noise, regulatory and human annoyance just two years before the Falmouth installations.
The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center dropped the warning of the two distinct types of noise from the Falmouth studies due to the concerns from Mattapoisett residents who refused to allow the wind turbines to be shoved down their throats.
The Falmouth wind turbines have a long history of hidden documents, memos, studies. The Vestas 110 decibel noise warning to the Town of Falmouth was written proof of the cover up. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center also after many years admitted the extrapolation in the original noise tests using a General Electric wind turbine that generated 103 decibels.
The original noise tests had extrapolated noise figures that were too low and then the town compounded the error by installing Vestas wind turbines 7 decibels higher than the original tests. They knew the neighbors would be tortured with noise.
Now Falmouth has two 400 foot commercial megawatt wind turbines that look like upside down toothbrushes sticking out of a pay toilet. Believe me the Falmouth taxpayers are paying plenty for these couple of multi-million dollar toilets.
The Town of Falmouth has in effect committed financial suicide. When was the last time you heard a tourist say lets go to Falmouth and look at the shut down wind turbines ?
It's more like how much affect do the turbines have on the real estate market.
Would you move to Falmouth knowing there are over ten ongoing lawsuits over the wind turbines and the litigation costs for the Town of Falmouth including the wind turbines is almost $600,000.00 a year.
The town has never accounted for the power going into the wind turbines from the electric company to keep the turbines maintained while they don't operate. This is called the parasitic load. The town will never tell you negative information.
The Falmouth residents, up to 200 residential homes, living near wind turbines complain of chronic sleep loss, headaches and other symptoms.
