Falmouth was promised the world even an ocean wind port for Cape Wind

Massachusetts April 17, 2015

During 2010 Governor Patrick announced the construction of the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal at 35 million.

New Bedford never obtained a permit from the federal government Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to build and construct commercial wind turbines in New Bedford, Massachusetts.

The BOEM permits had been issued to Quonset Point, Rhode Island as it has two 1500 foot wide channels capable of holding up to four old World War ll battleships at one time.

In May of 2013 New Bedford Mayor Jon Mitchell took a trade delegation to Bremerhaven, Germany. The New Bedford mayor told the press that Bremerhaven looks like the twin city of New Bedford ? What were they looking at ?
Bremerhaven doesn’t have a hurricane gate with only a 120 wide clearance !

Folks, The ocean wind turbine port in Bremerhaven, Germany has access to 3000 feet of open ocean. New Bedford has a hurricane barrier with a legal width clearance of 120 feet. The normal size of ocean wind turbine barges called Jack Up barges is 127 feet and don’t fit in New Bedford Harbor.

The news media , state legislators and judicial system need oversight of the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center over the spending of 113 million plus on the incomplete New Bedford ocean port. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center says its going into phase two.

The taxpayers of Massachusetts need answers. What were our politicians thinking comparing Bremerhaven, Germany with a 3000 foot expanse to the ocean and New Bedford harbor with a 120 wide legal clearance ?

The Port of New Bedford welcomes vessels from around the world”

:”The hurricane barrier, which can be closed during hurricane conditions and severe coastal storms, can accommodate vessels with beams up to 120 ft and with drafts up to 30 ft. This feature makes New Bedford the most protected, yet accessible, port on the Eastern Seaboard. Additionally, the Port is exempt from the Harbor Maintenance Tax.”
