FALMOUTH, MA — Say goodbye to plastic bags in Falmouth.
On Aug. 6, a new law banning single-use plastic bags kicks in. The law applies to everything from to grocery stores to clothing retailers to pharmacies.
"Customers are encouraged to bring their own reusable shopping bags when they go grocery shopping, out for food/take-out food, to the pharmacy or any other store, etc." town officials said in a statement. "Together we can protect the environment, reduce waste, protect waterways, and help make Falmouth a more sustainable Town."

The law bans single-use plastic bags less than 2.5 mils in thickness and with integral handles. shall not be distributed.
"The production and use of single-use bags have significant, negative impacts on the marine and land environment, clogging our storm drains, creating a burden on our solid waste collection and recycling," town officials said.
