MASSACHUSETTS — From a beloved grocery store debuting a smaller concept to hundreds more job cuts, it’s been a busy week in Massachusetts business news.

Beloved grocer opening its first smaller-format store in Mass.

Whole Foods announced Monday that it will open its smaller-format store concept, Whole Foods Market Daily Shop, at 111 Harbor Way in Boston’s Seaport neighborhood.

The company announced plans to expand its smaller stores in the coming years, with a lease signed in Boston and additional leases in Chicago and Philadelphia.

Another 200+ jobs will go away soon in Mass.

Job cuts continue in the commonwealth, with more than 200 layoffs announced late Friday afternoon.

Before the end of July, Dover Saddlery in Littleton plans to eliminate 112 jobs in July, Christianbook in Peabody plans to eliminate 50 jobs, and Cardinal Health plans to eliminate 58 cuts in Tewksbury, according to Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notices filed with the state.

Here’s when Shaw’s will officially open in Central Mass.

Marlborough’s newest grocery store is set to officially open later this month.

Shaw’s will open its new location at 193 Boston Post Road West on Friday, May 22, according to RK Centers.

A beloved Mass. donut shop is charting a South Shore expansion

Union Square Donuts is opening a new location at the Derby Street Shops in Hingham later this summer. The Somerville-based business, founded in 2012, is best known for its homemade donuts with fun flavor combinations and a crafted coffee menu.
