FALMOUTH, MA – Animal control officers are investigating an incident on Sunday after Falmouth police officers responded to a call Sunday of shots fired after a woman reported that her neighbor was firing a rifle at a hawk in a nearby tree.

Officers responded to the scene on Corte Real Ave. at 5:19 p.m. and determined the neighbor had been shooting at a hawk in a tree with a pellet gun, a Falmouth police spokesman said on Monday. According to police, the hawk flew away before being injured and the matter was turned over to Animal Control and Marine & Environmental Services for further investigation.
