Falmouth Police Warn Residents Of Unemployment Fraud Scam

he Deptartment of Unemployment Assistance told police they are investigating several cases of fraudulent unemployment assistance claims.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth police have warned residents to look out for fraudulent unemployment assistance.

According to police, several residents received fake unemployment eligibility letters addressed from the Massachusetts Department of Unemployment Assistance. Others reported that they had received a "denial letter" for unemployment assistance from the same department. Police said none of the resident shad applied for unemployment.

The Deptartment of Unemployment Assistance told police they are investigating several cases of fraudulent unemployment assistance claims along with state and federal agencies. They have referred all letter recipients to contact them at 800-354-9927 or online to file a fraud claim.
