FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth police have asked residents to be on the look out for utility service scams.

According to police, the scammers will call residents and threaten to shut off their gas and electricity. Often, they will demand payment with gift cards.

Police said utility companies will never shut off services without prior notice and do not accept gift cards.

If something seems suspicious, police told residents to end the call and call Eversource at 800-592-2000 or National Grid at 800-233-5325.
