Falmouth Wind Turbine The Truth


Every day, we have the choice to tell the truth, or not. We can be honest with ourselves about who we are and the challenges we face, or we can lie about it. Our government is no longer by the people, for the people.

1. Falmouth studied smaller 660 kilowatt turbines and switched out at the last minute and bought the current larger Veatas 1.65 megawatt turbines three times those originally proposed. True

2. Massachusetts through the Conservation Law Foundation and CLF Ventures came up with model bylaws for commercial wind turbines using small 660 kilowatt wind turbines as the model. The setbacks were never changed for the larger megawatt wind turbines.True


3. Falmouth residents were taken on a bus to Hull to view a small 660 kilowatt wind turbine and never told the larger Falmouth Vestas 1.65 megawatt wind turbine were three times the size of the Hull wind turbine .True

4. Falmouth Wind 1( Vestas V82 ) is an older commercial wind turbine. The turbine is actually an old model of the NEG Micon NM 82 bought out by Vestas wind company.True


5. The Town of Falmouth was warned( Aug 2010 Vestas Letter ) prior to the installation of Falmouth Wind 1 the turbine would generate 110 decibels of noise almost twice the rated noise. The noise level is equal to a hard rock band out doors. The town made
abutters to the wind turbines file written certified noise complaints about the wind turbines while always being aware of the noise warnings from Vestas Wind Company. True


6. The DEP sound study conducted in March 2012 found turbines broke state regulatory noise standards. True


7. Prior to the installation of Falmouth Wind 1 the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center dropped the warning to human annoyance that had been in previous noise studies in SE Massachusetts. True

8. Today we know that there are two types of noise regulatory and human annoyance or what is called infra-sound. True


9. General Electric a domestic wind turbine company would not build a wind turbine in Falmouth because of their own setback guidelines. True


10. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center couldn’t even sell their wind turbine at public auction and had to offer Falmouth one million dollars in advance to buy the politically embarrassing turbine. True


11. The preliminary wind study done by a private company and the Cape Cod Commission Model Bylaws say Falmouth should use a Special Permit 240-166 to build the Falmouth Wind 1 turbine .True


12. The turbines are too close to homes. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center in June of 2012 changed the setbacks to 2000 feet and admitted the Falmouth wind turbines were installed “Ad Hoc. “ True


13 .In an April 2013 memo to the Town of Falmouth the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center admitted it made acoustical errors in wind noise studies prior to the installation of the wind turbine. True


14. The courts have found the turbines are a nuisance. True

15. The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center is helping pay the Town of Falmouth litigation fees over the poor siting of turbines and ignoring the litigation fees of the victims thus victimizing the residents again.True



Last & the bottom line : The Town of Falmouth had been warned prior to any installations of any turbines by Vestas Wind Company the owner of Falmouth Wind 1 that the turbine was twice as loud as manufactured specifications at 110 decibels. True

Impact on People Noise Massachusetts

After noise complaints started coming in following the erection of WIND 1, the first Falmouth turbine at the wastewater treatment facility, Vestas required confirmation that the Town of Falmouth “understands they are fully responsible for the site selection of the turbine and bear all responsibilities to address any mitigation needs of the neighbors.”

WIND 2 would not be released to the town for erection until the letter was signed.
