What About The Victims ?
NO ONE, according to the Falmouth Wind Turbine Bylaw, is allowed to ignore the health and welfare of Falmouth’s citizens by erecting an industrial wind turbine within the town -- except for the Town of Falmouth, according to the Falmouth Board of Selectmen.
According to the Falmouth BoS, the unrelenting punishment that is being meted out by the Town to affected citizens through the operation of these unpermitted facilities is virtuous because the majority of Falmouth’s citizens are unaffected. As Vladimir Lenin once said: “You have to break a few eggs to make an omelet.”
The Falmouth BoS is therefore seeking to lift any and all restrictions on the operation of the wind turbines, through this appeal and through additional appeals of other court judgements against the town regarding the illegal and unsafe operation of the unpermitted facilities, in order to restore them to profitability.
The Falmouth BoS is living proof of the congenital inability of politicians at any level of government to admit error.
Regrettably, through its craven abdication of its moral duty to protect the rights and interests of all citizens -- and above all, to protect them from harm -- the obstinate Falmouth BoS also continues to serve as a disturbing example of the harm that can ensue when a group of weak-minded, obtuse and obdurate individuals gains sway over local government and then feels pressed to defend an indefensible series of decisions, at all costs.
Thankfully, owing to the intervention of the courts, over the strenuous objections of the government officials who continue to perpetrate this gross injustice, the long nightmare for innocent victims in Falmouth is approaching an end.
Citizens in Falmouth who resisted these remorseless attempts by the town to abrogate their rights, to invade their homes, to destroy their quality of life, to deprive them of sleep and to compromise their health and well-being, are to be commended for standing up for themselves and refusing to be bludgeoned into submission, through this expensive and debilitating, multi-year process of appealing to the courts to protect their legitimate interests and to rein in the unpardonable, and unapologetic, transgressions of the mulish Board of Selectmen in Falmouth.
