Forty-seven people reported physical and mental health effects from the wind turbines at the Falmouth Board of Health meeting on June 11, 2012.
Wind 1 was shut down in September 2015 after the zoning board of appeals issued a cease-and-desist order. Wind 2 was shut down in June 2017 after the Superior Court upheld the board of appeals’ decision deeming the turbines a nuisance after several neighbors filed up to eleven lawsuits and appeals against the town.

The Falmouth Town Meeting in 2019 appropriated $2.5 million to dismantle the two town-owned turbines.
The town in April 2022 hired a demolition company to remove the turbines.
The local power utility company will cut the power from the Wastewater Treatment Plant and the two town-owned wind turbines on September 7, 2022.
Next, electricians from the demolition company will verify the power shut off for safety then the fluids will be drained, and following that the demolition which could happen within days.
