Fire Breaks Out At Former Royal Nursing Home In Falmouth

The small fire was quickly extinguished, and no injuries were reported.

FALMOUTH, MA — A fire broke out at the former Royal Nursing Center in Falmouth Monday morning.

Fire officials were called to the old nursing home at 545 Main St. around 8:30 a.m., and firefighters discovered smoke coming out the front foyer of the building.

Fire officials said the fire was small. and quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported.

Deputy Fire Chief Scott Thrasher said the fire started in an in-wall heating unit, and there was a lot of lint and plastic burning, but the breaker tripped out and the sprinkler system contained it before firefighters arrived.

Thrasher said the situation was under control in less than 20 minutes.
