'Glamping' Campground Gets Green Light In Falmouth

A luxury campground is expected to open in the former Sippewissett Campground & Cabins space in 2020.

FALMOUTH, MA – A campground geared toward providing a luxury "glamping" experience is expected to operate in Falmouth by 2020. Boston-based developer Blue Flag Development will likely close on a deal to buy the former Sippewissett Campground & Cabins on Palmer Avenue in the coming weeks, and the plan has received Planning Board approval and draft approval from the Zoning Board of Appeals, according to the Cape Cod Times.

The grounds will feature 98 Airstream rental trailers and 10 canvas tents, reducing the number of campsites from 122 to 108. It will be operated by West Coast-based AutoCamp, which runs "glamping" experiences in Santa Barbara, the Russian River and Yosemite National Park.

Airstreams will include amenities like flat-screen TVs, queen-size beds and sound systems, and tents will have heated blankets and outdoor lounge areas with grills and fire pits. A representative from Blue Flag told the Cape Cod Times the campground is aiming for a 2020 opening.
