Heroin Bust on Cape Cod: Couple Arrested

YARMOUTH, MA — A Cape Cod couple was arrested in a recent heroin bust in Yarmouth, police announced Monday.
John Benevides, 34, of Hyannis, and Ashley Carr, 26, of Falmouth, were charged with heroin trafficking, drug possession, and conspiracy. Carr also had warrants out of Falmouth and Barnstable, police said.
Yarmouth police said its "proactive anti-crime" unit and drug unit on Thursday observed Benevides leaving his Yarmouth residence and drive a vehicle despite having a revoked license. Carr was riding with him, police said. Both were arrested on the spot.

"The arrests led to the development of information which led to the issuance of a search warrant for his residence," Yarmouth police said in a statement.
Police said a search of Benevides' residence yielded:

- 41 grams of heroin in eight bags
- Percocet pills
- $2,200 in cash
- Scales
Benevides was held on $10,040 bail; Carr was held on $5,040. Both were scheduled for arraignments at Barnstable District Court.
