In 2010 Governor Patrick announced the building of the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal. The cost 35 million. The terminal sits incomplete today at 113 million dollars a complete financial fiasco. An AM radio station smack in the middle of the project with a rail road link still a mile away.The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center will only say its going into phase two or three. The MassCEC will not comment on when the giant cranes will be installed in New Bedford.

Some question if the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal was really built to take the place of the Falmouth freight terminal and the state used renewable energy funds to replace the old terminal. The cost of replacing the Falmouth freight terminal was between 100 and 200 million.

New Bedford city officials, business leaders and state leaders went on an all expense paid taxpayer trip to Bremerhaven, Germany to look at an ocean wind turbine port. The idea was to come back with a great story and sell the public on building an ocean wind port in New Bedford. They came back and told the public through the news media nothing but good news.

The truth is Bremerhaven has had massive layoffs in the wind turbine industry and most of the workers are only part time.

You can see in this link Bremerhaven, the offshore wind turbine industry is in crisis- http://www.dw.de/no-wind-in-its-sails-offshore-wind-farms-in-crisis/av-17476241

The tax payers need to keep in mind that the ocean wind port has already been built at Quonset Point, Rhode Island with the help of a 22.5 million dollar federal Tiger Grant to buy giant cranes.

When the officials came back from Bremerhaven, Germany the Dog & Pony show has been going on since they got back. The entrance to Bremerhaven, Germany is 3000 feet the same as Quonset Point , Rhode Island. The legal entrance to New Bedford Harbor is 120 feet . The hurricane gate has an opening of 150 feet wide when the gates are open.

Here is a link to Bremerhaven, Germany Port restrictions none. The port is open to the ocean ( 3000 feet )

New Bedford is the most protected Port on the Eastern Seaboard by a hurricane barrier (150 foot entrance) that is constructed across the Port entrance and is equipped with an opening that can be closed during hurricane conditions and severe coastal storms, but which can still accommodate vessels with beams up to 120 feet and with drafts up to 30 feet;

Folks, Jack-Up barges world wide are used to build ocean wind turbines. Jack- Up barges are 127 or wider and can not fit in New Bedford Harbor. A special small barge is being built in New Jersey to fit through the hurricane gates. It will be the only one in the world that can fit through the gates.

How many people remember Governor Patrick and the 91 million dollar ship of fools ? This is it !

The Massachusetts taxpayers are paying for a three ring circus and still don’t get it.
I suppose after the “ Big Dig “ they figured Massachusetts taxpayers just want to be taken to the cleaners.

A local New Bedford newspaper named Governor Patrick “ Man of the Year !
