Lightning Sets Falmouth Home Ablaze

Residents were displaced after a lightning strike sparked a fire at their Falmouth home.

FALMOUTH, MA — Falmouth residents were displaced after lightning struck their home and sparked a fire.

Fire officials were called to Tashmoo Drive around 5 p.m., Sunday. Smoke and flames billowed from the attic, but the fire spread rapidly in the two-and-a-half-story home.

The resident got out safely without any injuries, fire officials told the Cape Cod Times. Fire officials extinghished the flames within an hour, but the damage had already been done. Deputy Fire Chief Timothy Smith said the house was "probably a 100 percent loss."
