On-line Petition Supporting Falmouth's Wind Turbines

The on-line petition remains open for additional signatures

Over 300 Falmouth residents have signed an on-line petition supporting operation of the town’s two wind turbines. The petition, started in May 2012, is addressed to Falmouth’s board of selectmen and zoning board of appeals. It remains open for more signatures at www.tinyurl.com/cleanwind

“The undersigned residents of Falmouth, Massachusetts SUPPORT THE RESPONSIBLE USE OF CLEAN WIND ENERGY.

As residents of Falmouth, we benefit from cleaner air and less climate disruption due to reduced use of fossil fuels. As taxpayers we benefit from revenue generated by the Town’s wind turbines.

We acknowledge that some nearby residents are negatively affected by noise, and we support fact-based mitigation efforts. We expect mitigation of homes (e.g. insulation, compensation, or buyout) will be faster and more cost effective than curtailing turbine output. We urge the Falmouth Board of Selectmen to support MAXIMIZING generation of clean renewable energy, and Town revenue.”
