MA-9 Primary Results: Brown Leads Sullivan, But Loses Barnstable
Unofficial election results from Barnstable came in around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday, all but signaling a winner in the race.

MA-9 — Jesse Brown continues to lead Dan Sullivan in a race separated by just over 1,000 votes in Massachusett's 9th District. However, Sullivan snuck out a win in Barnstable, according to unofficial election results from the town.
The Associated Press is reporting 94 percent of the votes in for the race to become the Republican candidate for Massachusett's 9th District seat, but none of the votes from Barnstable have yet to be included.

Here's what the numbers look like with 94 percent of the vote counted, according to the Associated Press:
- Jesse Brown - 22,361
- Dan Sullivan - 20,774
It's not likely that the 23 vote difference in Barnstable will be enough to close the gap, with so much of the vote already reproted.

Falmouth has also released unofficial vote totals, as of 9:30 p.m, without Brown topping Sullivan locally by less than 100 votes. Here's how the town voted in the race:
- Brown - 1225
- Sullivan - 1137
Keating, the incumbent, won't face a primary challenger.
In this race, it wasn't be possible to count every vote by the end of the night.
State officials allowed Barnstable voters to go to the polls until midnight Tuesday following a delay in the start of voting early Tuesday morning.
Town spokeswoman Lynne Poyant said the town clerk's vault was locked and inaccessible early Tuesday morning. That prevented election officials from getting ballots and opening polls at the typical 7 a.m. start time.
Voting was up and running by about 11 a.m. in Barnstable, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
Polls officially closed at midnight, according to the Secretary of the Commonwealth.
"Polls are now closed in Barnstable. We thank the voters of Barnstable for their patience," the elections division of the secretary's office said.
"We also thank the neighboring town clerks who are pitching in tonight to help with the hand count of ballots in Barnstable, after finishing up in their own towns."
