The Monday Morning Painters at Maser Gallery

Artwork by the Monday Morning Painters will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from July 5 through July 28, 2016. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception, Sunday, July 10, from 3:00-5:00 pm.

The Monday Morning Painters is comprised of a group of accomplished, local artists who are members of the Falmouth Artists Guild. Each member of the group takes a turn leading the group and deciding on a meeting spot to engage in plein air painting. Plein air painting is a phrase borrowed from the mid-19th-century French equivalent meaning “open (in full) air” and designates a painting executed out of doors and having the qualities of air and natural light.

The group meets at that spot for two weeks on Monday mornings from 9:30 to noon. They all participate in a group critique after each session, sharing helpful ideas and tips.

The presenting group includes Mary Carroll, Peter Daley, Sigrid Hecker, Carol Knox, Ruth Leech, Mary Nickerson, Kathleen Taylor and Gloria Warren. Watercolor, pastel, oil and acrylic works will be featured.
