Turbines slated for Plymouth to be moved over land to Plymouth from the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal

Wednesday afternoon July 22 the cargo ship PIETRO BENEDETTI will be delivering major wind turbine parts to the incomplete 113 million dollar New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal. The cargo will be offloaded on Thursday morning July 23.

The terminal remains incomplete with no large walking / crawler cranes. A smaller construction crane will be used to offload the cargo ship coming from Europe.

The parts may sit at the terminal indefinitely. A request was made of the Town of Bourne Select Board last week for a variance to bring wind turbine parts that include the weight of the trucks up to 140,000 pounds through the town to the construction site in Plymouth.

Plymouth is getting four Gamesa 97 gear driven wind turbines. The turbines are 2 megawatts each 25 percent larger than the Falmouth wind turbines that took the health and property rights of local home owners with no compensation.

The representatives of the wind turbine project failed to provide the Town of Bourne any weight calculations, engineering drawings, considered potential environmental impacts or verified in any way that the bridges and roads could withstand the weight of these massive loads.

There were nuts and bolts issues like how substantial parts of Bourne might accessed by emergency responders from the fire and emergency medical service departments in the town while the trucks were blocking the access roads.

The Bourne Select Board has canceled a scheduled meeting tonight, 7/21, to address the variance. No immediate date or public meetings has been set to review the variance.

The Massachusetts Clean Energy Center has described the incomplete 113 million dollar terminal as going into phase two. The ocean terminal is missing the multi-million dollar large walking cranes and the rail link is one quarter of a mile away. This undoubtedly will add tens of millions onto the ongoing financial fiasco.

The news media is conducting a news blackout of the financial fiasco.

This week begins the another additional 10 million dollar move of an AM-FM radio tower blocking four acres of land at the entrance to the New Bedford Marine Commerce Terminal.

The AM-FM radio antenna move is expected to take around two months. The terminal was supposed to be completed by December of 2014. The original cost of the terminal in 2010 was 35 million. Today the cost of walking/crawler cranes could cost that much alone.

Taxpayers are being cooked like frogs in warm water. They are turning up the heat until your boiled and don’t know it. Your going to be going broke paying the bonds on the terminal.

The taxpayers of Massachusetts are being wacked for another ten million dollars and our news media continues to look the other way ?

Finally you should all know that the New Bedford hurricane gates only have a legal clearance of 120 feet. The wind turbine “jack-up” barges used to build wind turbines are 127 feet and wider and do not fit through the gates. The terminal may never be used for the purposes it was intended for. ( Ocean wind turbine construction )

At Qunoset Point, Rhode Island the Quonset Development Corporation has already built a terminal. The Quonset Point terminal is the federally permitted site for the construction of the Cape Wind project.

The New Bedford terminal was never needed !

Folks, Its time to wake up ! Your being wacked for hundreds of millions of dollars !

When the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center has a ribbon cutting Ceremony for the terminal all the taxpayers will be broke paying of bonds. Who could afford to lease a project like this for more than the bond payments ?
