New Falmouth Senior Center Opening This Month

FALMOUTH, MA — After more than a year of construction, the new senior center is set to open in less than two weeks. The grand opening for the new center at 780 Main St. is set for 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. March 20.

The two-story building will replace Falmouth's senuor center on Dillingham Avenue. The project is the result of years of planning to create a design that meets the needs of the town's senior population. Ground-breaking for the senior center began in December 2020.

With the support of the Board of Selectmen, Finance Committee and the Council on Aging, Town Meeting approved $9.7 million in funding, and residents subsequently approved a ballot measure authorizing a debt exemption for construction of the 17,000-square-foot center.

"This facility is the culmination of of years of community dialogue to select a site and design a facility to meet the needs of Falmouth ...,"We are excited to welcome the Falmouth community to visit this new building," Friends of the Falmouth Senior Center said in a statement.
