Statement About This Exhibition
The title and concept of this exhibition was derived form National Geographic’s ‘Your Shot’, an online, public forum for photography- where the editors state an idea or theme and photographers submit photos consistent with that theme.
As photographers and artists, we are always challenging ourselves, looking for new ways to ‘see’. The theme ‘undiscovered’ spoke to our experience of making photographs; of being drawn to the new and unknown; the things we hadn’t noticed before. Through photography, we ponder unanswered questions and are open to new ideas and altered realities.
The photographs in this exhibition are also about the process of ‘uncovering’ new experiences in seeing the world. This process is one of connection to the subject and it becomes just as compelling as the photo itself. In a sense, the photo is a record of the act of ‘making a picture’. It is also important to note that the process does not require travel to foreign lands to ‘capture’ the more exotic. Some of the images in the exhibition were made in locales far from home— while others, just as powerful, were made in our own backyard.

About The Cape Photo Collective
The Cape Photo Collective is a group of like-minded photographers working in the upper cape area of Cape Cod Massachusetts. Although our subject matter and styles are varied, we share ideas and about contemporary art photography and the process of making photographs. The collective has its roots in four consecutive photography courses taught by photographer Jon Moore at the Falmouth Art Center in January of 2013. This was followed by an Advanced Photo Seminar at Falmouth's Historic Highfield Hall in October 2013. CPC photographers work in an environment of support, encouragement and critique with meetings held monthly. Members also interact with and participate in the activities of other photo organizations, but we do not hold competitions within the collective.
The goals of CPC are as follows:
1) To explore contemporary ideas and techniques in digital photography
with support from open-minded colleagues
2) To discover new themes and unifying ideas in our photographs
3) To seek receptive venues in which to exhibit our work both as a group
and individually
