Riders had been traveling in from across southeastern Massachusetts, prompting stepped-up patrols after complaints about property damage, trespassing, and unsafe riding. Officials say these joint crackdowns will continue and warn that illegal riders risk fines, arrest, and having their bikes towed.

The Great New England Hurricane of 1938 Made Landfall in Newport 88 Years Ago today (thenewportbuzz.com) — A look back at the 1938 Great New England Hurricane recalls how storm tides up to 25 feet devastated coastal communities, including flooding parts of Falmouth under as much as eight feet of water.
