Planning Board Dismisses Wind Energy Bylaw Review

Town's economic hardship doesn't merit Wind Bylaw amendment says Planning Board. Article 3's status remains indefinitely postponed.

Tuesday night the Planning Board voted 7-0 not to reopen discussion regarding changes to the wind energy bylaw. Board members agreed that nothing new, of zoning relevance, had changed since Town Meeting’s adoption of the 2013 Wind Energy System Bylaw.

At the recent November 9 (2015) Falmouth Annual Town Meeting, members voted to defer the Board of Selectmen’s Article 3 to the Planning Board for further review, citing the need for further discussion.

Article 3’s purpose, initiated by Selectmen, was to exempt all wind turbines from a special permit process if constructed on town land and serving a public purpose.
