"Sails, Snow and Sand" Paintings by Cricket George

Maser Gallery at FCTV presents the paintings of local artist Cricket George, May 3 - 28, 2015.

Paintings by Cricket George will be on display at the Maser Gallery at Falmouth Community Television from May 3 through May 28, 2015. The public is invited to attend the Opening Reception, Sunday, May 3, from 3:00-5:00pm.

For many years Cricket George enjoyed using her artistic abilities for decorative painting and creating craft items. As an instructor in medical coding and billing, Cricket taught at Fisher College in Hyannis and New Bedford, and at Sandwich Community School. Upon retirement in 2009, she felt it was time to pursue her desire to work in acrylics. “My aunt was a wonderful painter, and I always wanted to paint like she did,” explains Cricket. “Once my hectic working schedule was behind me, I had time to fulfill that dream.” A second-generation native of Falmouth, she is particularly interested in painting scenes from the local area, with emphasis on her love of water.

She began under the tutelage of Barry Jones-Henry at the Mashpee Senior Center, and soon joined Falmouth Artist’s Guild, where she has taken classes with Dan Hanagan, Robert Roark, and Claudia Smith-Jacobs. Cricket has exhibited her paintings at the Falmouth Art Center, Three Fish and a Ram Art Gallery, Cape Cod Art Bar, and the Mashpee Public Library. At the Maser Gallery, Cricket was part of a two-person show in April 2014, and part of the Mashpee Senior Center Painters’ Exhibition this April. The month of May 2015 marks her first solo show at the Maser.
