SPRING IS HERE!
Welcoming the Spring season with many new programs for the youth! Also, congratulating the Falmouth High School Women's Hockey Team!
Falmouth Recreation Department
The Ides of March are upon us and I have wonderful news…it’s officially Spring! Also known as the Vernal Equinox, this change of the seasons has been the most anticipated ever for the residents of Falmouth. With yet another snow storm under our belts, the town and the rest of the Commonwealth have shattered previous snowfall record amounts. Regardless of the lingering winter weather, the Falmouth Recreation Department is gearing up for the busy spring schedule of programs offered to the community. Slowly but surely, the once snow and ice covered baseball parks in town will be thawed out and reinvigorated with youthful exuberance. Batter up!
Catalyzing the spring schedule, the inter-seasonal mini programs are in the middle of their short but sweet existence. The Youth Multi Sports, Indoor Winter Baseball, & the After School programs have been a major success this month. Thus far, Indoor Soccer and Wiffle T-Ball have been featured at the Youth Multi Sports program, and it’s safe to say we have many future prospects for the New England Revolution & the Boston Red Sox in our community! In addition to these mini programs, many of the ongoing year-round adult programs such as Aerobics, Walking, Indoor Soccer and Men’s 40+ Basketball continue to stoke the fire of recreation in the month of March down at the Gus Canty Community Center.

We are reviving some programs from the past such as Senior Walking and Talking. This unique outdoor program is offered to active seniors only, combining some easy pace walking along with some friendly conversation. We conduct this fun and interactive activity at various picturesque locations in the Upper Cape area. The walks are scheduled for Tuesday mornings (9:00- 11:00 AM), from April 21st to June 9th. Transportation is provided by the Recreation Department to the various walking locations (Falmouth bike path, Cape Cod Canal bike path, etc). Also another reminder, we are featuring some special events for families such as the Mother & Son Dance (Friday, May 1, 2015 from 6:30-8:00pm), and the Father & Daughter Dance (Friday, June 5, 2015 @ 6:30-8:00pm). Please call our front desk or visit our website for all registration questions and information (508-457-2567; www.falmouthmass.us/rec).
