Teen Nearly Drowns At Falmouth Pond: Police

A Good Samaritan from Quincy pulled a teenager from the bottom of Jenkins Pond in Falmouth Thursday, police said.

FALMOUTH, MA — A teenager was saved from drowning at a Falmouth pond Thursday, authorities said. The rescue happened at Jenkins Pond. Police said a Good Samaritan pulled the teen from the bottom of the pond. The teen was expected to be OK.

Police said the incident happened at about 11 a.m. when a male teenager in the water had trouble staying afloat. A woman nearby tried to give him a floatation device but he pushed her under, police said. A Quincy man in a nearby vacation rental heard screams and swam out to teen, who was at the bottom of the pond, police said. The Quincy man pulled the teen up and he was administered CPR until first responders arrived. The teen was transported to Falmouth Hospital and expected to be OK.

"The quick action taken by the gentleman from Quincy and others clearly saved the teen’s life," police said in a statement.
