Three Arrested for Alleged Robbery at Great Bay Motel

Nathan Martins, Justin Beernink, and Mark Veloza were arrested in connection with a home invasion and robbery at the Great Bay Motel on Saturday.

Police arrested three local men Saturday in connection with an attempted robbery and home invasion at the . 

The suspects, Nathan P. Martins, 23, Justin M. Beernink, 23, and Mark Veloza, 29, all of East Falmouth, were arraigned Monday in Falmouth District Court and are being held on cash bail prior to their pretrial hearings on January 24.

At approximately 8pm on Saturday, January 7, Falmouth Police were dispatched to a room at the Great Bay Motel for a reported altercation. According to a police report, when they arrived, two male victims reported that two masked subjects allegedly had forced their way into their room with a bat and had attempted to rob them.

While one of the assailants had fled, the victims reported that the other one allegedly had said he was a police officer “and that he was there to save them.” The victims were able to get the bat away from him and had the suspect, Nathan Martins, held down when the police arrived. 

Martins, also a resident of the Great Bay Motel, was familiar to police. They had been called to the motel the previous night because the owner stated he was evicting Martins for vandalizing the room.

Guests at the motel advised police that Martins was friends with another male, Justin Beernick, who was staying at the Carleton Circle Motel, also in East Falmouth, with Mark Veloza. Police went to the Carleton Circle Motel and arrested Beernink and later, Veloza. 

While Martins was charged with home invasion, armed and masked robbery, conspiracy, and impersonating a police officer, Beernick and Veloza were charged with home invasion, armed and masked robbery, and conspiracy.
