Verdict in Case of Cape Cod Jail Guard Accused of Having Sex With Inmate

Megan Patterson, 52, resigned from her guard job in 2014 after allegations surfaced that she had sex with a male inmate.

A Barnstable County Correctional officer this week was found not guilty of having sex with an inmate.

Megan Patterson, 52, resigned from her guard job in 2014 after allegations surfaced that she had three sexual encounters with a 23-year-old male inmate in 2012 and 2013, according to the Cape Cod Times.

The inmate told a jury Patterson started flirting with him and at one point offered to pay him $10,000 to impregnate her. Patterson’s lawyer denied the sexual encounters happened and pointed out that no jailhouse workers witnessed such activity.
