Wareham High 'School Shooting' Snap: Student Arrested
Wareham police said a student posted a Snap message about a school shooting and was subsequently arrested for making a terroristic threat.
WAREHAM, MA — A Wareham High School student was arrested Monday after police said he posted a Snap message asking, "Anyone down for a school shooting?" The male student was charged with making a terroristic threat and transported to Wareham District Court for an arraignment. His name and age were not released.
Wareham police said the student was in school Monday when he posted a Snap message that included a photo of himself and the caption, "Anyone down for a school shooting?" The student was arrested on the spot after the school's police resource officer learned of the message, police said.
"The juvenile, who was very cooperative and denied any intention of being involved in a planned school shooting incident, was placed under arrest ... without any disruption to school activities," police said in a statement. "(Police) Chief Kevin Walsh praised the immediate and efficient actions of school administrators and the School Resource Officer in handling this matter, which is considered an ongoing investigation."
