Woods Hole Woman’s Club Celebrates 100th Anniversary of Visiting Nurse Association and Announces Welcoming Tea

Members of the Woods Hole Woman’s club celebrated the 100th anniversary of the Visiting Nurse Association at an outdoor garden reception held August 16th at the seaside home of Bill and Winnie Mackey. The visiting nursing service was founded by the Woods Hole Woman’s Club with one nurse traveling from home to home on a borrowed bike. From these roots, the Visiting Nurse Association has expanded Cape-wide and beyond to serve an amazing 3,000 patients each day ~ from newborns to the elderly ~ who receive care in the privacy and comfort of their own homes.

The Woods Hole Woman’s Club continues to serve the community and invites members and guests to its annual welcoming tea and open house from 3:00 to 5:00 PM on Tuesday, September 13, at Fisher House, Church of the Messiah, Church Street, Woods Hole.

Christina Rawley, board president, will present an overview of the organization and a preview of the monthly programs and activities planned to inform and delight. A copy of the newly printed 2016-17 Member’s Directory will be distributed. A few WHWC 100th Anniversary book bags are still available for sale and may be purchased for $20. at the tea. Light refreshments will be served.

Since its founding in 1914, The Woods Hole Woman’s Club has worked to enhance the lives of those in Woods Hole and surrounding communities. Members raise money for college scholarships and support other community organizations through various club activities.

Most meetings are held at 11:30 AM on the second Tuesday of each month from October through April with occasional events scheduled in the evening.
