The Woods Hole Woman’s Club continues its 100th birthday celebration in 2015. The January meeting brought the club members back in time as president Jeannette Fullerton took on the role as the first president of the Club, Mrs. Gilman Drew. Ellie Armstrong played the part of Mrs. Jennie Vedeler, the Club’s first secretary. She read minutes from a compilation of several meetings from one hundred years ago. In those years, meetings were held in the evenings in the Club members’ homes. Many members in the room were dressed in the attire of the day: long skirts, shawls, and hats. Various hot soups and beverages were a welcomed treat as a blanket of white snow gently swirled outside the Church of the Messiah’s Fisher House.
Due to inclement weather, the usual February luncheon has been postponed until March 3.
On Tuesday, March 10, the Club is pleased to present Stephanie Weaver, who will perform “Music of 100 Years Ago.” The meeting is at 11:30 in the Fisher House, Church Street, Woods Hole.
