Former State Representatives Marty Walz and Paul Demakis endorse Jay Livingstone for 8th district.

Boston – Today progressive Democrat Jay Livingstone accepted the endorsements of former State Representatives Marty Walz and Paul Demakis in his campaign for State Representative for the 8th Suffolk district. These key endorsements from the immediate past State Representatives from the 8th Suffolk District come just eleven days before the May 28th Democratic Primary.
“The job of State Representative requires both policy expertise and a deep understanding of neighborhood issues,” said Walz. “I'm confident Jay Livingstone is the best candidate and will be a skilled State Representative.”
“As our State Representative, Jay Livingstone will continue the 8th Suffolk district's longstanding tradition of progressive, independent leadership at the State House, and vigorous advocacy to protect the quality of life in our neighborhoods.” said Demakis. “I'm proud to endorse him.”
Livingstone accepted the endorsements, saying “Marty Walz and Paul Demakis are accomplished progressive leaders, and we were lucky to have them as our last two State Representatives. I'm proud to have earned their confidence and will work hard to continue their legacies of excellence and leadership in the State Legislature.”
Livingstone, an accomplished attorney in both public and private practice and active community member, adds the endorsement of Walz and Demakis to a growing list of progressive supporters. He has been endorsed by Mass Alliance, Progressive Massachusetts, the Progressive Democrats of Massachusetts, the Sierra Club of Massachusetts, the National Organization for Women – Massachusetts, and Massachusetts Voters for Animals (formerly Humane MA PAC).
Walz is endorsing Livingstone in her personal capacity and not on behalf of the Planned Parenthood League of Massachusetts, where she is currently the CEO.
The 8th Suffolk district represents parts of Boston’s Back Bay, Beacon Hill, West End and Fenway, as well as Cambridgeport and MIT in Cambridge.
