BU Ranked in Top 20 Healthiest Colleges in U. S.

A new list by health publication Greatist.com cites the Sargent Choice Nutritional Center and high participation in intramural sports for BU's high rank.

Taking spot #19, Boston University landed in a top 25 healthiest colleges list by the fitness and health site, Greatist.com

According to Greatist, the Sargent Choice Nutrition Center and widespread student involvement in intramural sports at BU are primary reasons for its inclusion on the list.

"With more than 100 physical education classes offered per semester and more than 7,000 students participating in intramurals, BU kids find time to get fit with peers," the article said.

A large selection of vegetarian and vegan options, an active education blog and nutritional seminars at the Sargent Choice Nutritional Center set BU apart from other universities.

“For new students, healthy eating is as simple as looking for the Sargent Choice label at BU dining locations across campus,” Director of Sargent Choice Stacey Zawackia said. “We offer a wide range of delicious healthy foods and present them with nutrition tips to help students customize their own healthy meals.”

Local schools coming in ahead of BU were Brown University (#6), Wheaton College (#7), Umass Amherst (#9). Maine's Bowdoin College grabbed the number one spot.
