Curt Schilling Taken Off Little League Coverage After Inflammatory Tweet

The former Red Sox pitcher Tweeted a picture that equated Muslim extremists with Nazis. ESPN quickly responded.

Former Red Sox pitcher and Massachusetts resident Curt Schilling has been removed from his post covering the Little League World Series after he tweeted a picture of Adolph Hitler Tuesday.

The Tweet, which has since been deleted, showed Hitler performing his trademark salute and seemed to equate Muslim extremists with Nazis. The caption read “It’s said only 5-10% of Muslims are extremists. In 1940, only 7% of Germans were Nazis. How’d that go?”

Sports network ESPN, for which Schilling is a baseball analyst, soon responded with a scathing Tweet criticizing Schilling’s stance and announcing he will no longer be covering the Little League World Series for the network.

“Curt’s tweet was completely unacceptable and in now way represents our company’s perspective. We made that point very strongly to Curt and have removed him from his current Little League assignment pending further consideration.”

Schilling later apologized to individual users on Twitter, saying his tweet “didn’t come across in any way as intended or interpreted.” He then tweeted, “I understand and accept my suspension. 100% my fault. Bad choices have bad consequences and this was a bad decision in every way on my part.”
