David Price X-Rays Negative After Taking Line Drive

One of the Red Sox' best pitchers has left the game after taking a 102.6-mph comebacker off the wrist area.

BOSTON, MA — X-rays on David Price's left wrist were negative after the Sox lefthander was struck by a wicked line drive Wednesday night against Miami. Price left the game after being in the inner arm area near the wrist by a 102.6-mile-per-hour comebacker off the bat of the Marlins' Austin Dean.

Price left the game with what the Red Sox called at the time a left wrist contusion. The Red Sox were trailing, 3-2, when he was injured. Manager Alex Cora later said x-rays were negative, but that Price was sore.

Price has been one of the best pitchers in baseball over the second half of the season. Price is 14-6 with a 3.50 ERA this season, solidifying himself as the No. 2 option in the rotation.
