Howard Shore and the BACC

Alumnus Howard Shore ‘69, the Grammy- and Academy Award-winning composer on Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings films, among many others, and the Berklee Alumni Composers Consortium present a performance of music by Shore and other Berklee alumni and faculty members.

This program will include three pieces by Shore as well as compositions by Kari Juusela, dean of Berklee’s Professional Writing and Music Technology Division; Frank E. Warren, president of the Berklee Alumni Composers Consortium; and Helen Sherrah-Davies, an assistant professor in the Harmony Department.

Shore’s musical interpretation of J.R.R. Tolkien’s imaginative world of The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit, as portrayed in Jackson’s films, have enthralled people of all generations for years. This work stands as his most acclaimed to date, earning him three Academy Awards, four Grammy Awards, and multiple Golden Globes, critic’s awards, and festival awards.

Guest artists include mezzo-soprano Krista River, cellist Arnold Friedman, violinist Mimi Rabson, violists David Wallace and Melissa Howe, pianist Joe Mulholland, and the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra, led by Greg Hopkins. The music will be performed by ensembles ranging from a string ensemble to a jazz big band.
