Last year, Sale was 17-10 with an ERA of 3.34, WHIP of 1.04 and 233 strikeouts.
Sale joins a Red Sox pitching rotation that already has Cy Young Award winners David Price and Rick Porcello. Despite the star power on the mound, the Sox were swept out of the AL Divisional Series by eventual pennant winners the Cleveland Indians.
