Red Sox Report: Boston Takes Northeastern to School

The Red Sox kicked off Spring Training by flashing some power.

A couple of young guns and a newcomer swung some big sticks as the Red Sox kicked off Spring Training with a 9-6 win over Northeastern University in Fort Myers, FL.

Sam Travis and Mitch Moreland each hit three-run home runs, while Deven Marrero knocked in two on a double. Lefthander Brian Johnson started and gave the Sox two scoreless innings.

A slimmer Pablo Sandoval made his long-awaited return to the lineup and slapped a double.

When does the real Grapefruit League schedule start?

That will be today at 1:05 p.m. against the New York Mets. You can listen to the game on WEEI (850). Lefthander Henry Owens is expected to start for Boston.
