The Red Sox welcome the (rebuilding!) Yankees needing a shot in the arm after a sleepy West Coast trip. And despite a huge controversy on David Ortiz bobblehead night and a playoff stretch run on deck, all eyes will be on Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez looks to be in the last leg of his compelling career, having abruptly announced that Friday will be his last game with the Yankees before he moves into an advisory role with the team. Rodriguez, just four home runs shy of becoming the fourth player with 700 career home runs, will likely be booed out of Fenway until his last at-bat, when he may be recognized for an outstanding run. Once nearly a Red Sox, Rodriguez has become a sports villain hated on an almost universal level. But if he connects on a few longballs Tuesday night, look for the narrative to change as he chases 700.
