David Ortiz Bobbleheads 'Unacceptable,' Pulled By Red Sox

The Red Sox apparently thought the bobbleheads could be construed as offensive. What do you think?

Big Papi bobblehead night is a big disappointment. The Red Sox' planned promotion to hand out David Ortiz bobbleheads to fans for Tuesday night's Yankees game has been canceled. The team said in a statement at 2:17 p.m. the bobbleheads were "unacceptable to the club and not appropriate for distribution."

Red Sox President Sam Kennedy told reporters there was concern that the facial features of the bobbleheads could be considered offensive.

Photographs of the following bobblehead had made their way around Twitter, purported to be the bobblehead in question.

As of noon Tuesday, tickets to tonight's game were far more expensive than either Wednesday or Thursday night's games against New York, with far fewer tickets available. Whether that could have been attributed to the Ortiz bobblehead promotion or the fans' wishes to serenade Alex Rodriguez in his final road series before he plays his last game with the Yankees Friday is unclear.
