Rick Porcello Wins Cy Young Award
The Red Sox righthander's renaissance season was recognized Wednesday night.

Boston Red Sox ace Rick Porcello was named the American League Cy Young Award winner Wednesday night, capping his incredible turnaround from one season ago. The award is handed to the most outstanding pitcher in the league.
Porcello led the majors with 22 wins in 2016, compiling career highs with a 3.15 ERA and 189 strikeouts in 223 innings.

Just one year prior, the righthander was a bust in his debut season with Boston in 2015, flaming out to a 9-15 record with a 4.92 ERA.
Porcello beat out former teammate with the Detroit Tigers Justin Verlander and Cleveland Indians righty Corey Kluber to win the Cy Young.

The Red Sox have had three other pitchers win the Cy Young: Jim Lonborg (1967), Roger Clemens (1986, 1986, 1991) and Pedro Martinez (1999, 2000.)
Boston's Mookie Betts is up for an MVP Award Thursday.
Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals won the National League Cy Young. Red Sox-turned-Cubs ace Jon Lester was one of the contenders for the award.
