Steven Wright Suspended For Domestic Violence Incident
The knuckleballer will miss the start of the season following his arrest.

BOSTON, MA — Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright has been suspended 15 games violating Major League Baseball's domestic violence policy. The MLB announced the suspension less than a week before the start of the season.
Wright was arrested outside his Tennessee home in December. His case had been retired by the courts, but MLB conducted its own investigation.
Wright said in a statement issued by the Players Association he will not appeal the suspension.

"I deeply regret my actions that night," he said. "I fully cooperated with MLB's investigators and re-iterated to them that I did not make physical contact with my wife. The legal case that as retired supports that claim."
Wright, a 33-year-old knuckleballer, has pitched five seasons for Boston, including an All-Star appearance in 2016. His last two seasons ended early with injuries. Wright was a question mark for the back end of the rotation this year as he works his way back from knee surgery, but this suspension guarantees he won't be on the Opening Day roster.
