6 More Foxboro Candidates Take Out Nomination Papers For Election

School committee, board of assessor, and library trustee candidates recently picked up nomination papers for the town election.

FOXBOROUGH — Since last week, another six candidates have taken out nomination papers, signaling they will run for office in the May 6 election.

Five of those candidates are incumbents seeking reelection. Board of assessors member Robert O'Donnell, school committee vice chair Christopher S. Connolly, board of health vice chair Eric S. Arvedon, library trustee Christine Igo Freeman, and planning board clerk Ronald P. Bresse have all picked up nomination papers to seek reelection. Brent Ruter will also run for the school committee and already returned his nomination papers, Town Clerk Robert Cutler Jr. told Patch.

With six more candidates taking out nomination papers over the last week, there are now 12 candidates who have taken out papers for the May election.

Board of Selectmen Vice Chairman Mark Elfman, Planning Board clerk Ronald Bresse, Water and Sewer Commissioner Robert Garber, and Town Clerk Robert Cutler Jr. have all picked up nomination papers to seek reelection. Robert Palie and former Police Chief Edward O'Leary will run for selectmen. O'Leary has already returned his nomination papers with the required signatures, Cutler told Patch.

Voters in 2019 will have plenty of decisions to make, as 13 positions are up for a vote on the May ballot. Candidates have until March 18 to return the papers with signatures from at least 50 registered Foxborough voters, so make sure to check back to see who's running.

The following positions will be on the ballot. All carry a term of three years, with the exception of the Housing Authority opening, which last five years:

  • Town Moderator
  • Town Clerk
  • Board of Selectmen (Two openings)
  • Board of Assessors
  • School Committee (Two openings)
  • Water and Sewer Commission
  • Board of Health
  • Library Trustee (Two openings)
  • Planning Board
  • Housing Authority
