The Revolution (4-11-9, 21 points) and the Crew would play a first half that was bland with not much action to really discuss about until late in the first half. In the 45th minute, Pat Phelan would set up Feilhaber inside of the box with a nice pass. Feilhaber would blast a strike that went into the back of the net. The Revs were suddenly ahead 1-0 as the half was coming to a close.

To the Revs credit, they certainly didn't back down, and almost got a go ahead goal. In the 62nd minute, Feilhaber took a free kick that Stephen McCarthy headed right to A. J. Soares. Unfortunately, his shot hit the crossbar. This was a golden opportunity missed by the Revs that would come back to haunt them.
