Revs Give Up Late Goal In 1-1 Draw With The Dynamo
The Revs were in action Wednesday night against the Houston Dynamo. Read how this match dramatically ended.
The New England Revolution (4-11-10, 22 points), were in action Wednesday night against the Houston Dynamo (7-7-11, 32 points), at Gillette Stadium. The Revs led the majority of the match, up until the 90th minute, when Bobby Boswell tied the match for the Dynamo. It was a tough way for this game to end for the Revolution as the match ended in a 1-1 draw.
The Revolution came out strong in this game, and looked determined to get all three points. The Revs aligned in a 4-4-2 formation that seemed to ignite the club. In the 4th minute, Chris Tierney struck a shot from a set piece that hit the crossbar.
Well, it didn't take much longer for the Revs positive play to pay off. Seconds later, off of a corner kick from Benny Feilhaber, the ball would land to Milton Caraglio. His shot would be deflected to Ryan Cochrane who would strike the ball into the back of the net. Surprisingly, the Revs were suddenly leading 1-0.

The rest of the half would basically be the Matt Reis show, as the Revs goalkeeper was incredible in net. In the 24th minute, Je -Vaughn Watson had a header from close range that Reis deflected over the net. In the very next minute, Reis would pull off a great save from Adam Moffat's 30 yard strike.
Reis and the Revs defense as I expected were under fire in the first half. To their credit, they stepped up against immense Dynamo pressure, and ended the half with 1-0 lead.

The Revs goalkeeper would again play a huge role in the second half. In the 57th minute, Reis made a very nice save on Geoff Cameron's shot. Then, in the 63rd minute, Reis deflected away a header by Cam Weaver. The Revs goalkeeper was putting on a show.
The Revs would continue to be under siege the rest of the match. The Dynamo continued to push forward looking for the equalizer.
Unfortunately for the Revs, the Dynamo would get their goal in the 90th minute. Off of a corner kick, Carlo Costly's header was saved by Reis, but it got away from him, and Boswell converged to the ball. He struck it into the back of the goal. That would be the final goal of the match as the match ended minutes later in a 1-1 draw.
This was a cruel way for this game to end for the Revs, as they defended very well. This season has been difficult for the Revolution, and last night's match was another very tough result to swallow.
The Revolution will next be in action Saturday night August 20th, to face the New York Red Bulls at Gillette Stadium. The match starts at 7:30 EST.
