Revs vs. Seattle Sounders: Match Preview
The Revs are on the road Sunday to play the Seattle Sounders. Read my preview of the match, and who I am predicting to win.
The Revs are coming off of a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire last Saturday Night at home. They will be on the road on Sunday to face the Seattle Sounders at CenturyLink Field. The match takes place at 4:00 PM EST. The game will be shown on Comcast Sports Net New England, and also can be heard on 98.5 The Sports Hub.
The Revolution (3-7-6, 15 points), in their last match played a 1-1 draw with the Chicago Fire at home. The Revs looked much better pushing forward in this match. However, it took an early second half goal by Rajko Lekic to level the match for the Revs. Ultimately though the match ended with another draw for the Revs. New England will need to convert more of their scoring opportunities against the Sounders, if they expect to come back home with 3 points.
The Seattle Sounders (7-4-7, 28 points) in their last match got a home victory against the New York Red Bulls, Thursday Night at CenturyLink Field. Second half substitution Roger Levesque scored 2 goals leading Seattle to a 4-2 win. The Sounders are currently second in the Western Conference. They will definitely be looking for another home victory against the Revs.

Questionable: Alan Koger (ankle contusion), Ousmane Dabo (quadriceps strain)
Doubtful: Chris Tierney (foot contusion)
Out: Didier Domi (achilles tendonitis), Kheli Dube (whiplash), Marko Perovic (knee surgery), Stephen McCarthy (shoulder subluxation)
Key players to watch in this match for the Revs are Rajko Lekic and Benny Feilhaber. Lekic had been getting closer recently to scoring some goals. Against Chicago he broke through with a goal. Hopefully Lekic can build on his positive play, and score some goals against the Sounders. Feilhaber has the type of game from the midfield to really set up the strikers up front. His return to the lineup from injury could be very valuable for the Revs. If he is able to link up with Lekic and Mansally, the Revs could be poised for the upset.
Key players to watch for the Seattle Sounders are forward Fredy Montero, and midfielder Mauro Rosales. Montero is an accomplished striker, and will need to be contained by the Revs defenders. This season he has scored 3 goals, and has 4 assists. Rosales from the midfield is a very dangerous player, who can help with the strikers up front. He has scored 1 goal, and has 3 assists. For the Revs to win they will need to slow down these two players for the Sounders.
This match is a real tough spot for the Revolution. They will be playing in front of a huge crowd that can really get into the game. Also, Seattle has some serious firepower, and the Revs will need to be at their best just to keep up with them.
To be honest I see the home team having too much scoring ability for the Revs to ultimately contain. I am expecting the Revs to play the Sounders tough, but coming up a little short in this match. I am predicting a 2-1 loss for the Revs against the Seattle Sounders.
