What on Earth are Grubs and How Do You Prevent Them?
Got Grubs? Fall is a great time to take action and preventative measures to prevent these pesky beasts.

Grubs are larvae that grow into beetles. They live below the surface and feed on the roots of your lawn. They are most damaging here in Massachusetts in the Spring (April/May) and the Fall from late August until the ground begins to freeze, sometimes into December. The usual indicator that your lawn has grubs is your lawn’s appearance. Key signs include your lawn appearing torn up.
When you have grubs, treat with Trichlorfon. Better yet, prevent grubs. Imidacloprid should be applied once every July in order to prevent them altogether. This treatment will prevent egg hatch of Japanese beetles, masked chafers, and Asiatic beetles. Treatments are best applied by a licensed professional as proper handling, calibration of equipment, and other precautions will reduce risk exposure. Responsible use of pesticides will help you maintain a healthy lawn.
