Chic 2 Chic Consignment Shop Suddenly Closes

The store abruptly closed, but now consignors and customers claim the store owes them money.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The sign outside the store and the message on their website is simple. "Chic 2 Chic is now permanently closed. We will post more information here as it becomes available," the message reads. But for those with merchandise in the store, questions about whether they will get their items and money back are abundant.

The consignment shop suddenly closed Wednesday, with no notice. A reason has not been given but the mother of owner Janelle Palomba told WFXT that something terrible happened that caused her to close the store. Palomba could not be reached for comment.

The store, which moved to the former CVS at the center of town in 2011 and then the former Ocean State Job Lot on Route 140 in 2014, sold second-hand clothing and accessories on behalf of their owners. Now thousands of dollars worth of merchandise remains locked inside, with some sellers who banked their sales in store credit wondering if they will ever see their cash.
