Dion Lewis Is Leaving Too; Expected To Sign With Titans

The New England Patriots are about to lose their top running back.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — A bad day for New England Patriots fans got worse late in the evening. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that running back Dion Lewis will sign a four-year, $23 million deal with the Tennessee Titans. The report comes the same day that it was reported that Malcolm Butler heading to Nashville as well.

Despite some injuries, Lewis proved to be a valuable part of the Patriots backfield. During his three years in Foxborough, Lewis rushed for 1,413 yards and eight touchdowns and caught 85 passes and five more touchdowns through the air. The bulk of his production came last season when he saw the most use, especially during the second half of the season.

Lewis joins a team that is quickly becoming Patriots South. The Mike Vrabel-coached team also has Logan Ryan at cornerback.

This is the third major departure to come the day before free agents may sign with teams. In addition to Lewis and Butler, it was reported that Danny Amendola is taking his talents to South Beach and will sign with Miami.

Left tackle Nate Solder is the team's top remaining free agent, but he is likely to command a lot of attention on the open market.
