Dont'a Hightower, Danny Amendola Leave Opening Night With Injuries

Hightower left the game with a knee injury and Amendola suffered a head injury.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The dreaded injury bug have taken two more member of the New England Patriots.

With 6:53 left in the third quarter, Patriots linebacker Dont'a Hightowner went down with an apparent knee injury. During the play, Hightower's right knee buckled and he went down in obvious pain. He left the field on his own power and went straight into the team's sideline medical tent and did not return.

Later in the game, Danny Amendola left with a head injury and was ruled out for the rest of the game. Like Hightower, he did not play another down.

The possible injury would be the second wide receiver the team lost Thursday and the third this season. Julian Edelman went down with a torn ACL in week 3 of the preseason and Malcolm Mitchell was placed on injured reserved Thursday afternoon.

No updates were available on either player as of late Thursday night.
